in a visit to cebu recently, Sen. Richard Gordon told reporters that he was still interested in running for the presidency in 2010 and that Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia would be an ideal running mate for any candidate.

"Among those who wanted to run for the presidency for 2010, I believe I am the most ready, with my records of public service and volunteer works, but I am not yet ready to announce my candidacy," said Gordon.

When asked about a Gordon-Garcia tandem and their posters displayed showing both their faces along Roxas Boulevard in Manila last year, Gordon said the posters were just part of promotions of the Lapu-Lapu monument project at Luneta Park.

Speculations of a Gordon-Garcia tandem for 2010 were ignited in December 2007 when Gordon visited Cebu for an event.

Governor Garcia praised the senator for his competence and spoke of the GG partnership as standing for “Good Governance - Gordon and Gwen.”

But Garcia doused talk of a national candidacy during her State of the Province Address in July last year when she said she would stay in Cebu and not run for a national post in the 2010 elections.
