Only UNO is true opposition

Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay said Saturday that whoever runs against the candidate of the United Opposition is not a member of the real opposition.

Binay said deposed president Joseph Estrada will call for a meeting of the opposition in July or August to choose the opposition's standard bearer, his running mate and the senatorial slate.

He noted that some figures were being labeled opposition simply because they had criticized some of the administration's actions.

He said that if they are true members of the opposition, aspiring candidates should respect the choice of the group for its standard bearer.

“Kung natalo ka at di ka napili tapos tumakbo ka pa, di ka opposition kasi makakahati ka lang ng boto (If you lost and were not chosen and then you still run, you are not opposition because you are dividing the votes),” he said at the Sulo Hotel forum.
